  Ford Racing For 5.0L Coyote Cobra Jet Intake Manifold

      The new Ford Racing For 5.0L Coyote Cobra Jet Intake Manifold engine was revealed in September, a short time before it showed up for sale on the Ford Performance website, disclosing key figures and pricing for the new part.

Steeda, a well-known manufacturer of aftermarket parts for Blue Oval products, has since gotten its hands on the new intake and tested it on a dyno against its first-generation counterpart.

First, Steeda’s representatives put a stock 2022 Ford Mustang Mach 1 on the dyno to get baseline figures and found that it put out 408 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque.

Then, they “knocked the dust off” a first-generation Cobra Jet intake manifold and slapped it on the dyno, where it made 421 horsepower and 375 foot-pounds of torque.

Finally, the second-generation Cobra Jet intake was tested, noting that it does a good job making top-end power without sacrificing low-end torque.

 Steeda found that the redesigned intake helped the Ford Mustang put out 422 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque, which may seem negligible compared to its older counterpart.

However, the new intake has a few advantages over its replaced model, particularly regarding looks. Steeda praised its low profile and looks, which work far better with the stock Mustang hood than its previous iteration.

 Ford Performance cleaned up the casts for the latest model, making it easier for tuners to put a lower-profile hood on a Mustang outfitted with the new Cobra Jet intake.

The new Ford Mustang Cobra Jet intake was revealed only recently, as Ford Performance invited automotive YouTube personality Evan J. Smith, or REVan Evan, to reveal the new part exclusively.

The part has popped up on the Ford Performance website, revealing new details, including its price.

This new Ford Mustang Cobra Jet intake manifold is constructed with all-new tooling and is more streamlined than its predecessor.

 According to Ford, it is one of the most popular modifications for vehicles that cradle the Ford 5.0L V8 Coyote engine.

 The part was developed based on the naturally aspirated Cobra Jet Race Car, which facilitates a much greater horsepower than the Ford Performance Boss 302 intake without sacrificing torque.

The new part fits 2011 through 2014 Ford Mustang GT models with the manual transmission or the 2012 and 2023 Mustang Boss 302.

 It also fits 2015 through 2022 Ford Mustang GT models with manual transmission and accommodates modifications such as hood clearances, aftermarket hoods, and lower engine mounts. It is designed and tested for 20 psi and up.

The new Cobra Jet intake manifold is not compatible with stock parts. It can only be outfitted on vehicles with aftermarket Ford Performance parts, such as specific throttle bodies, installation kits, Cobra Jet Cold Air Intake, or equivalent.

 It does not have provisions for the aspirator tube hookup found on automatic transmission models and is incompatible with the Ford Mustang GT automatic transmission.

 Nitrous oxide is also not recommended for use with this Cobra Jet intake manifold, and calibration is paramount.

The Ford Mustang Cobra Jet intake manifold retails for $1,500. It is not on sale yet, but a Ford Performance rep indicated it will become available within four weeks.
